Expected outcomes

TINN2 will provide the necessary critical mass to obtain detailed information relating to the safety and efficacy of azithromycin in the newborn in order to apply for a PUMA. Increasing the appropriate use of medicines in children will be of direct benefit to children, their families and health professionals.

Furthermore, TINN2 will benefit from and strengthen various paediatric drug evaluation initiatives across Europe, notably the on-going TINN network focusing on two other drugs, the antibiotic Ciprofloxacin and the antifungal drug Fluconazole, consolidating a network of units with experience in clinical research that will be used for additional drug evaluation in neonates.
